The SKB STYROTERM top-mounted roller shutter system is a highly technologically advanced solution, which was developed with a view to improving the energy balance of the building. Research at a renowned research institute IFT ROSENHEIM has shown that the proposed solution has an extremely low thermal transmittance coefficient (Usb already from 0. 29 W/m²K), which places the system in the first place among other products of this type. As in the case of the Opoterm system, the installation of roller shutters involves direct installation of the shutter box on the window frame by means of an appropriately selected adaptation profile. Aluprof’s offer includes several options, which are adjusted to 90% of profiles available on the market. The SKB Styroterm system has been designed to be completely insulated, so that the shutter box remains an unnoticeable element of the building façade.

The main element of this product is a shutter box, which was made of a material specially designed according to Aluprof’s requirements, characterized by very good thermal properties. It is available in two sizes: 260 x 260mm and 300 x 300mm. Installation of the shutter box is very quick and easy. It is based on direct attachment of the shutter box on the window frame by means of an appropriately selected adaptive profile (by snapping-in or inserting). The use of this type of construction allows for its installation both in newly erected buildings, as well as in those that already exist during replacement of window joinery. The SKB STYROTERM top-mounted system provides for the possibility of installing special steel reinforcements of the shutter box (the so-called fixed consoles), which is aimed at ensuring proper and stable functioning of the roller shutters, especially in the case of large dimensions. These reinforcements are characterized by a simple construction, and their shape does not interfere with the components of the roller shutter. In addition, these elements are insulated by means of so-called fittings. Well thought-out construction of the system allows to fit a single roller shutter as well as a set of roller shutters in one shutter box.

Roller shutters in SKB STYROTERM system can be equipped with insect screen installed in the shutter box. Due to the click technology it is very fast and easy to install. The advantage of the new product is also the possibility to choose the revision flap from the inside or outside of the room. In the case of the latter, there has been a significant improvement in relation to the solutions used on the market. The frequently used revision flap in the form of an angle screwed to the window frame has been replaced by a snap-in aluminium profile, which ensures a non-intrusive installation. The aluminium profile is snapped-in directly into the bottom profile of the shutter box. This solution ensures the appropriate stiffness of the revision flap and, what is more, allows for the colour matching with the woodwork or façade, as the profile can be painted with any colour from the RAL palette. The well-thought-out system design makes it possible to use the mechanism of façade shutters in the box. Assembly of the guide channel is very quick and easy. In the SKB STYROTERM system it is possible to use profiles with polyurethane foam and PVC.

VARIANTS OF SKB STYROTERM

• SKB STYROTERM VENTI – is an annual solution developed for installation in ventilated façades. Its clever design ensures free air circulation and the system itself does not interfere with the façade's supporting structure. The shutter box has a smaller size than the basic variant, giving more options of the external façade layer to be finished while keeping the same capacity of the box. The roller shutter box is made of high-quality material with very good thermal properties. In the case of non-ventilated walls, there is the option of fitting an aluminium face profile, which is ideal as a support for the installation of the external insulation layer. Two revision options are available: from the inside or the outside of the room. Roller shutters in the VENTI variant (SKB/K) system can be fitted with the MKT insect screen, as well as the MPH, due to dedicated guide channels.

SKT OPOTERM is a very universal product designed primarily for installation in newly erected buildings (mainly developer buildings) or for replacement of window joinery. This system belongs to the family of top-mounted roller shutters. The roller shutter box is installed directly on the window frame by means of an appropriately selected adaptive profile, compatible with the window frame profile. It is made of very good quality PVC elements and its interior has been additionally insulated, thus increasing the thermal insulation, which was confirmed by tests carried out in the IFT ROSENHEIM Institute. The roller-boxes were tested using EPS (Neopor, thermal insulation material) – the tests were based on the current standards and calculation methods. The product demonstrated a very good thermal transmittance performance, e. g. the SKT 230/170 box with integrated insect screen obtained a Usb coefficient of 0.73 W / (m²K) while maintaining high operability to shadow larger glazed areas.

SKT OPOTERM is a versatile product that allows installation without casing, with partial or complete casing as the front of the box is at the same time a base for any finishing material (e.g. polystyrene, plaster, clinker, etc. ) and therefore it remains an unnoticeable element of the façade. Product's particular advantage is the ability to choose how to access the product from the bottom or from the front of the box, this even before the final installation of the roller shutter takes place. Moreover, well thought-out construction of the system allows to fit a single roller shutter as well as a set of roller shutters in one roller shutter box. The system is also available with narrow channels made of extruded aluminium for maxi and mini profiles to allow additional frame insulation in order to minimize heat loss. For buildings with very thin walls, which do not have any development possibilities, a variant with the so-called rounded side profile can be used. In view of the French market, where it is very common to use old frames that are not dismantled during renovation as they are the load-bearing element of the building structure. The roller’s curtain can be made of high quality aluminium sheet that ensures durability and resistance to abrasion and weathering or made of PVC profiles.

The system’s design enables integration with insect screens, which ensure effective protection against insects. Several system variants are available, such as: SKT OPOTERM NOVA, SKT OPOTERM RENO and SKT OPOTERM MONOBLOCK.

CHECK OTHER VARIANTS OF SKT OPOTERM

• OPOTERM NOVA - compared to the basic version of Opoterm system, the location of the MKT integrated insect screen was changed here. The MOSKITO set has been placed under the curtain of the roller shutter, which allowed to bring it closer to the window frame. Installation of this solution is very easy. Entry guides of the curtain constitute adapters for the installation of MKT with just one click, similarly as in SKB STYROTEM system. What is more, the insect screen can be inserted into the roller shutter box at any time during production or on a roller shutter box already installed on the frame. It is worth adding that a change in the location of the insect screen does not change the winding parameters of the system. The advantage of the system is also the option of installation of the end caps with just one click on the already installed roller shutter. In addition thanks to the special adapter of the entry guides, it is possible to make a wide roller shutter with narrower guide channels, which is often a desirable solution, especially on the French market. The adapter is available for both electrical and manual control. In the latter case, the possibility of making a wider roller shutter box enables the strap or rope to go out on the width of the façade. Therefore there is the possibility of mounting the coiler on the wall.
• SKT OPOTERM RENO - It is an option designed mainly for the French market, where it is very common to use old frames that are not dismantled during renovation as they are the load-bearing element of the building structure. This solution is very versatile. The roller shutter box is cut in the shape of the letter „Z”, which allows to adjust it to all versions of renovation frames available on the market, whose fin size varies from 25 mm up to 110 mm. This Product is only available for the system without an insect screen.
  
• SKT OPOTERM MONOBLOCK - This solution was designed mainly for the French market, where very often the walls of buildings are insulated from the inside and the window joinery is installed in the insulation layer. This, in turn, entails the need to use special wi dow profiles, the so-called monoblocs, and thus significantly complicates the possibility of application of the top-mounted roller shutters. In order to solve this problem, Aluprof has designed system solutions of guide channels adapted for mounting roller shutters on such window frames. This product is characterized by its small size and is deprived of any fastening elements. The guide channel is available in two versions - aluminium with a flat back wall and an angled PVC wall matching the angled mono-block frame, which provides a stable mounting base.
